Your privacy matters to us. This page explains, in plain terms, what we collect and why.

1. What this covers

This Privacy Policy explains what data Rankfolio collects when you use the site, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to visitors, listed users, and account holders alike.

2. Information you provide

When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password (or, if you sign in with Google, your name, email, and profile photo from your Google account — we never see your Google password). When you submit a listing we collect the listing details you choose to publish: role, description, skill tags, and website URL, all of which are shown publicly. When you contact us for support we collect whatever you include in that message.

3. Payment information

Payments are handled entirely by our payment processor, Dodo Payments. We never receive or store your full card number, expiry date, or CVC. We retain a record of the amount paid, the payment status, and a processor-issued reference id, which we use to confirm and reconcile bids.

4. Information collected automatically

When you view a public listing, we record a one-way hashed, non-reversible identifier (derived from your IP address and browser) together with a timestamp and referrer, so we can show listing owners how many people viewed their profile without storing anything that identifies you personally. When you click through to a listed website, we log that click the same way before redirecting you. We do not use this data for advertising or sell it to anyone.

5. Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and a small set of essential cookies required for the site to function (for example, CSRF protection). We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

6. How we use your information

We use your information to operate the leaderboard and your account, process payments, send transactional emails (such as verification links, password resets, outbid notifications, and payment receipts), respond to support requests, enforce these Terms, and prevent fraud and abuse. We do not use your data to send marketing email you haven't asked for.

7. What we share, and with whom

We share data only with the service providers that make Rankfolio work: our database and hosting provider, our payment processor (Dodo Payments), and our transactional email provider (Resend). Each processes data on our behalf under its own security and privacy commitments. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone else except where required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Rankfolio, our users, or the public.

8. Public information

Content you choose to publish in a listing — including your display name, role, description, skill tags, website link, and current bid — is public by design and visible to anyone who visits the site. Do not include information in a listing that you don't want to be public.

9. Data retention

We retain account and listing data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or remove a listing, we remove the associated public content and retain only what we are required to keep for accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, or legal purposes. Anonymized, non-identifying analytics records (view and click counts) may be retained indefinitely since they cannot be tied back to an individual.

10. Your choices

You can review and edit your listing at any time from your dashboard. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, or ask us to export it, by emailing us using the contact details below. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first.

11. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including password hashing, encrypted connections, and signed, verified webhooks for payment events. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Children

Rankfolio is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “last updated” date below. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
